TESL Ontario is pleased to announce that through a contract with the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration, TESL Ontario will develop a Directory of Best Practices for the delivery of funded Adult Non-Credit English and French as a Second Language training in Ontario. This directory of best practices will help language training stakeholders identify and locate methodologies, tools and resources for the most effective programming and delivery of English and French as a second language training referenced to the new Curriculum Guidelines for the Adult Non-Credit Language Training Program and Portfolio-Based Language Assessment.
The Best Practices Directory will be founded on research into existing practices, tools and resources as well as relevant literature review. The Directory of Best Practices will identify practices for excellence in programming and delivery that have responded to the diverse needs of learners in ESL and FSL training programs. Field consultation with language training providers will include literature review of best practices, review of recent innovative initiatives in Ontario, key informant interviews, language training provider focus groups and an online survey.
The creation of a Directory of Best Practices will facilitate access for all language training stakeholders to exemplary practices to enhance delivery of MCI-funded language training. It will serve as a standard to support excellence in classroom practice and program delivery.
